TOMSK-SHANGHAI: HOW TOMSK ENTREPRENEURS ENHANCE BUSINESS RELATIONS IN THE CELESTIAL EMPIRE

On October 24, 2016, the delegation of representatives of Tomsk small and medium-sized enterprises went to the biggest city of China – Shanghai – to establish business contacts with Chinese entrepreneurs. Among the participants of the delegation there were representatives of companies “Ferment” (TM Desant Zdorovya), “Prompolimer”, “MFO Komponenty”, NPF “Alev”, “Timbergrupp”, etc.

On the first day of the business program Tomsk delegation held presentation of products at the Consulate General of Russia in Shanghai and the Department of the Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in Shanghai. Consul General of Russia in Shanghai Alexei Evsikov, who has a vast long-term experience of work in the Embassy of the USSR/Russia in the People’s Republic of China and in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in the field of cooperation with China, noted the potential of Tomsk enterprises, gave practical recommendations on effective cooperation with Chinese business. Representative of CCI-Russia in Shanghai Sergey Burykin, who is the coordinator of the business program of the mission, also participated in meetings.

“The meeting at the Consulate General of Russia was very intensive and fruitful. Aleksey Nikolaevich, who has a vast experience of cooperation with Chinese side, highly appreciated prospects of Tomsk companies on the Chinese market and noted that there are interesting topics to discuss. He also proposed to use the resources of the Consulate and CCI system to assist the promotion of Tomsk products in South China. The Consul was very attentive to each participant of the delegation and gave practical advice on entering the Chinese market, including licensing and protection of trademarks issues", - said Head of the delegation of Tomsk CCI Eduard Belyaev.


On October 25 the participants held b2b meeting with Chinese enterprises and organizations, among which there were representatives of Chinese authorities in Shanghai, the largest trading companies in the field of water purification and food products sales, importers of building materials, manufacturers of equipment, suppliers of water purification systems on the domestic market of the PRC etc.

"Tomsk delegation chose a good time for the visit, because Russian-Chinese relations have positive momentum. We are interested in getting acquainted with Tomsk region, you have a good scientific and business potential, interesting products and inventions of enterprises. We see potential for cooperation not only with small businesses but also with large enterprises and universities of your region", - said Vicki Ma from China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (Shanghai, district Pudong).

The biggest interest of Chinese entrepreneurs was aroused by the production of “MFO Komponenty”, NPF “Alev”, and “Ferment”. Chinese business also showed interest in cooperation with IP Anikina, “Timbergrupp” and “Prompolimer”. Individual visits of several members of the delegation to Chinese enterprises, as well as additional talks held immediately after the b2b meeting confirmed the interest aroused.

The program of Tomsk small and medium enterprises business mission, which will last until October 28, will continue with further negotiations, visits to enterprises according to the business profile of participants and the presentation at Shanghai Co-Way International Technology Transfer Centre.

The business mission was organized by Tomsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Integrated Regional Center of the largest business network - Enterprise Europe Network) with the support of the Tomsk Region Administration and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
